We are the Youth of Suncreek UMC
Suncreek United Methodist Youth is a group growing together in Christ through
fellowship, worship, fun, missions and much more. We are dedicated to serving
Christ by reaching out to each other and those around us. This means taking time
to listen to each other’s joys and concerns. It means reaching out to the
community and the world through service. We love to have great fun together and
to laugh together. We enjoy learning new things and having new experiences. Our
group is a great place to feel the love of God, to grow closer to God, and to
build strong relationships and memories that last a lifetime. Join Us!

The journey of faith is like the journey of life…high points, bumps in the
road, twists and turns. For those in 6th grade, Confirmation lays the foundations
of faith that will be a building block for a life filled with purpose and
passion. Confirmation starts October 14th at 9:30am in Palmer Hall. Be sure and join us
for this kick-off event. If you missed it, it is not to late! We will be meeting
throughout the year for meaningful and fun events. This is a great chance
for youth to explore the roots of the faith and begin a faith journey of their
own. Click here for more
information. |

interested in joining contact our Minister of Music, Rev. Rev. Kevin Holland.
Youth Choir
We have an awesome youth choir called Cantate. The choir sings during Sunday Morning
Worship at the 8:15am service on most Sundays. We will present a musical this spring
and are now planning our Third Annaul Summer Youth Choir Tour. If
you are interested in joining this group, come to a rehearsal or contact Rev. Kevin Holland,
Minister of Music.

and Orff Ensemble
This group focuses on music from around the
world with particular emphasis on various musical forms from Africa, the
Caribbean, and Central and South America. It rehearses on Tuesdays from

Sunday Night Youth
UMYF is a time for fellowship, building relationships, having fun and getting
becoming more deeply connected to God. There are some exciting
things planned in the fall for the youth on Sunday nights including crazy
games and meaningful and relevant programs.
Sunday nights are a “must” - check it out! |
Wednesday Night Bible Study
Join us on Wednesday nights for Bible Study and
more. The Jr. High group meets at 5:30pm at the church every other week. At 6:30pm, the Sr. Highs
meet at the church for The Nichodemus Project Study.
Wednesday nights are also a time of fellowship and sharing. We talk about what
is going on in our lives and pray for each other.
Fun & Faith (Jr. High Faith exploration)
A time just for Jr. high youth to explore faith issues using tactile lessons.
Each week will have a different verse and fun activity. Come ready to get
dirty, come ready to have some fun, come ready to learn! This will meet
every other week for the fall semester beginning September 19.
THE Nicodemus Project (Sr. High Bible Study)
In the middle of the night, Jesus was approached by a man named Nicodemus.
He came to Jesus in the middle of the night because he knew
it was the only safe time and place to ask Jesus some questions. The
Nicodemus Project provides Sr. High a “safe” place to ask questions and
explore faith together. This will meet weekly on Wednesdays at 6:30pm for the fall semester beginning September 19.
Synago1 (Sr. High Bible Study)
This is a group of Sr. Highs that meest weekly for bible study on Wednesday nights at 7:30pm in homes. This is a youth led group.
Small Groups:
The Big Time (Juniors and Seniors)
High school is ending…and it is time for THE BIG TIME! This monthly
meeting is to talk about issues that arise in your last 2 years of high
School. We will gather for fellowship, food, and laughter. We will talk
about issues like leaving home, picking a school, vocation exploration,
and faith issues after high school. Once a month from September – June
with a retreat in late July or early August. It begins Monday, September 24.
Service
Throughout the year, our youth energetically make a
difference through service activities. Recent activities include building
wheelchair ramps, delivering goodies to our local firemen, visiting nursing
homes, preparing meals for homeless families, and purchasing Christmas gifts for
impoverished children.

Fellowship/Recreation
There is a time for service and study. When it is
time to play and have fun, we do it right. We play Whirleyball, Whifleball,
Paintball, and Broomball, to name a few. You can depend on a few folks shooting
some hoops before and after activities in the parking lot. We have cookouts,
swim parties, and scavenger hunts. We also have fun fundraisers like car washes,
bake sales, and Parents Night Out (providing an active good time for children
and a break for parents). |
Annual Activities
Conference Mid-Winter Youth
Retreats
In late January and early February, the North Texas
Conference of the United Methodist Church offers a Jr. High Retreat and a Sr.
High Retreat. The retreats start on a Saturday morning and wrap-up on a Sunday
afternoon. The retreats are packed full with youth and adults who love
experiencing creative games, singing, worship, and small groups. Both Retreats
are held at Camp Bridgeport. These are very popular events that fill-up
extremely fast. Sign-up Early!
Easter Sunrise Service
We invite the whole church to attend a youth-led
worship service at sunrise on Easter Sunday. Get out of bed and celebrate the
risen Christ youth style!

sharing God’s love, making a visible difference in people’s lives, immersing
yourself in a new culture, and returning home with a clear sense of calling and purpose. |
Summer Camp
The North Texas Conference offers a number of great
camps for youth every summer at Lake
Bridgeport. They are an awesome opportunity to make new friends, experience
a loving community of youth from many churches, worship in creative ways, and
enjoy zany activities.
2008 Junior
High Summer Camp is usually in late June.
2008 Senior
High Summer
Camp is usually in early July. ( We will announce the dates here by early 2008.)
