Our Growing Together in Faith Campaign (2007-2010) is about moving forward in our mission and in fulfilling the vision for our church. This campaign is not just about a building that will change our campus, it is about changing people’s lives. We hope all of us will grow in faith as we are challenged to give sacrificially on behalf of Jesus Christ. When we give sacrificially and do not give simply from our financial leftovers then we are being the truly faith filled people God calls us to be. If we want to offer radical hospitality, excellent Christian education, and Christ-like service then we must build and make room for all who seek to make Suncreek their church home. |
What is our Need?
We need more classrooms for our children, who are over 500 in number. We also need more room for our 1300 adults and youth to gather together and grow in faith. If we are to continue effective ministries within our church family, if we are to serve others that are joining, and if we are reaching out to others outside of Suncreek, we must expand our facilities!
What is our Plan?
Design on our next new building has begun. Our new building (Building “B”) will be dedicated to serving the needs of children, including children involved in the weekday ministry of Suncreek Children’s Development Center. The new building will include approximately 15 new classrooms, a large indoor gathering space, kitchenette, offices and restrooms. The building will contain about 15,000 square feet, and will have an indoor connection to our current sanctuary building. Construction of our new building is expected to begin in early 2008 with completion by early 2009. The cost of this building and renovation of existing buidings is approximately $3 million dollars. What can you do?
Each member of Suncreek United Methodist Church is urged to “Grow Together in Faith!” You have a part that only you can give. With this in mind, we boldly ask for the involvement of each person.
Pray. Look for God to direct your way. Ask not what you should do, but listen for what God can do through you – through God’s grace and your faith. Pray regularly for the entire campaign and for God’s leading in your commitment.
Believe. Believe that God will work through Suncreek to build a church, which in turn will build believers. Let your commitment be a matter of faith that represents a sense of God’s calling in your life.
Be Informed. Learn more about our church’s missions and ministries. Read all the information you receive about the Capital Campaign. Ask questions. Get informed.
Give. This project requires us to raise funds above and beyond the regular support of church members and the annual ministry budget. The focus is not on everyone giving the same amount, like a membership fee. It is about equal sacrifice. We are all called to make gifts that require sacrifice. Your gifts can give again and again as faith grows within the walls of Suncreek and spills outward to our community.
The one who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and the one who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each of you must give as you have made up your mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly in every good work. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
Now is the Right Time for This Campaign!
There is consensus at Suncreek that we have a real and pressing need for a new building. We need more space for persons of all ages. We need to add more educational, administrative, and worship space to support our ministries until at least 2012. We see our church growing and we know we need to do something soon.
The congregation has responded generously to the expressed need to support our 2007 Ministry and has fully funded our annual budget. Glory Be! In addition the church has given in extraordinary ways to raise enough funds to take care of all of our Senior Pastor’s cancer related expenses not covered by insurance for the next three years. Glory Be to God that with monetary, spiritual, and medical support Kathleen is growing healthier every day! The apostle Paul reminds us in the first chapter of James that whenever we face trials of any kind, consider it nothing but joy, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance; and let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking in nothing.
Life can test us and in the midst of those challenges God is there to strengthen us if we only open ourselves to God. Suncreek has done just that in a mighty way. There has been a new spiritual energy since the beginning of the year! We were already a strong, faithful, and vibrant church, but recently that spirit has been especially intense. Some have called it a spiritual revival. Many share that they are renewed in their strength of faith and confidence in the power of Christian community. Others have described this time as a wake up call to focus on what is really important in our lives. Sunday morning worship attendance has increased significantly. An unprecedented number of persons have joined the church. Our church is growing in so many ways.
Yes, now is the time. In every season of faith we are called to lead lives worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, as you bear fruit in every good work and as you grow in the knowledge of God (Col. 1: 10). Now is the time for a bold faith, to give sacrificially, to live a life as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

Growing In Faith Together Campaign Commitment Cards
What is a Commitment Card and why use it?
A Commitment Card is not a contract, but rather a simple statement of intent. Knowledge of what dollar amounts to expect, and on what schedule they might be given, is critical information for wise planning.
Is my commitment confidential?
Yes. Access is only granted to persons who must have this information. Currently, the only persons that accesses this information is our Office Administrator, Jennifer Evans and Business Manager, Steve Wagner. Our Senior Pastor, Kathleen Baskin-Ball also has access to this information, but she typically does not exercise this right.
When do I begin giving? And how long and how often do I give?
Commitment cards were sent by mail to church members and regular visitors in mid-May. They were also available at the worship service on May 20th. The three-year giving begins Sunday, June 10. You determine your personal giving schedule - it may be weekly, monthly, quarterly, or another schedule of your choice. Plan to give in a consistent way that works for you. |
