Bread Run Volunteers needed:  We are in need of volunteers to help deliver day old bread from Albertsons to area ministries.  It is a wonderful ministry and it really helps agencies provide supplemental food for their clients who need food assistance. Suncreek’s Congregational Care Committee is beginning Stephen Ministry where members of our congregation will provide Christian care to church members and others in our community by developing one-on-one relationships.   For more information contact Janet Hunt.

A Cancer Support Group is being formed for those dealing with or recovering from cancer.  This group will meet to share experiences, offer information and care for each other.  Please contact Betty Scillian for more information.

A Divorce Recovery Group will begin meeting the second Tuesday of each month, beginning Tuesday , May 13th, from 6 to 7:30pm in the Senior Pastor's Office. Sheila Madigan Levitino, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, will facilitate this group. There is no cost to attend, and childcare is available by reservation. Suncreek Stitchers.  This fellowship and service group meets every third Tuesday from 7:00 to 9:00pm in room B107.  For more information, please contact Julie Macpherson.

 

The Missions Committee has published a church cookbook that will benefit the missions work of the church. You will receive one copy of the cookbook for every $12 donation. They are being sold on Sundays near the sanctuary and in the church office during the week.

Suncreek United Methodist Men will meet Wednesday, May 14 at the Twin Creeks Clubhouse at 6:30 p.m.

	The College Mission Trip to Juarez, Mexico is scheduled for May 15-19, 2008. If you are interested in being part of this trip, contact Janet Hunt.

Mission Possible Kids is for 1st – 5th grade students.  Agents are assigned TOP SECRET missions such as making gifts for hospitalized children, raising money to end world hunger, collecting goods for food banks – all while earning Mission Stars for their official MPKids T-shirts after each completed mission. 

More than 75 agents have signed on as MPKids agents at Suncreek working to change the world!  Our first completed mission (code word: Busy Bags) will help 250 children in area hospital ERs, waiting rooms and homeless shelters. 

Our next mission will be on May 16th at Headquarters (Palmer Hall) from 6:00 – 8:00pm.  A light dinner will be provided.

New agents may sign up at church or at any MPKids meeting. For more information, contact Adriene Morgan.

We are starting a new young adults (25-35) group in order to socialize and grow in faith.  The group will be hosting a BBQ social at 5:58 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, at the home of Chase and Sarah Ezell.  Please RSVP to Sarah Ezell (skezell@gmail.com, 972-618-4182) or Jana Jones (janajones33@hotmail.com).

Confirmation Sunday is May 18. This is when sixth graders who have participated in confirmation for the last year are recognized and invited to become full members of the church. For more information, contact Evan Jones.

The Middle School Cantate concert tour and Mission Trip is June 8 -11,  .  Concerts and community mission activities are scheduled in Edmond and Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as, Little Rock, Arkansas. Rev. Kevin Holland.

	From June 16 -20, all children who are entering kindergarten through 5th grade in the fall are invited to join us for Vacation Bible School. It is held Monday through Friday from 9am to Noon. Click here for more information.

Summer Bible Camps sponsored by the Suncreek Children's Development Center will be offered during 3 weeks of the summer: June 23rd, 25th, 27th; July 14th, 16th, 18th; August 11th, 13th, and 15th. The camps will be held from 9am to 2pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Age: 2 years to Kindergarten (for the 2008-2009 school year). Cost: $75 per week with a one-time registration of $15. The North Texas Conference of the United Methodist church offers children’s summer camps at Bridgeport Conference Center for children completing grades 3 – 5. Dates are: July 8 – 12 (Adriene Morgan, our Children’s Minister, will be attending this one), July 22 – 26, August 12 – 16 and August 17 – 20.  For more information, contact Adriene Morgan

We are seeking team members for a Mission Trip to the Czech Republic from July 10-21, 2008. We will be conducting our second annual English Camp in Karlovy Vary.  If you are interested in learning more about this experience and ministry please attend the February 17 meeting at 3:30pm in Janet Hunt’s office Room A 105.  Click here for more information or contact Janet Hunt in the church office.

	The South Central Jurisdictional Conference will be held in Dallas on July 15-19, 2008.  Jurisdictional Conferences are held every four years. One of the primary tasks is the election of bishops. Cantate, Suncreek's youth choir, will join several area youth choirs in singing at this event.

Summer Music Camp for children entering grades 1 - 3 will be held July 21-25. For more information please contact Julie Highley.

Cantate, Suncreek's Youth Choir, will travel to the Czech Republic from June 25- July 5 for this year’s Mission Tour.  For more information contact Rev. Kevin Holland.

Suncreek 101, our introductory class on Methodism and Suncreek Ministries, will be offered August 17, 24 and 31 in the Sr. Pastor's office (room B101) at 11am. We will post the class schedule here soon.  This popular three-week class is for all visitors, new members, and anyone who is interested in Methodism or would like an overview of the wide variety of ministry opportunities available at Suncreek. It is also an excellent way to meet others in our church community!  No advance registration is required.

On a Sunday, August 24, students beginning the second grade receive bibles at the 9:30am and 11am worship services. We seek to encourage them to start building basic bible literacy skills.

The Enneagram:  Understanding Ourselves and Others.  This course will be held on Saturdays, September 27 and October 4 from 9:00 to noon.  There is a $10 fee to cover cost of materials.  For more information contact Rev. Holly Gotelli 

Suncreek's Sixth Annual Golf Tournament is September 28, 2008   The tournament course is Twin Creeks Golf Club in Allen.  This year's tournament will be organized by Suncreek's United Methodist Men.

Suncreek UMC's Annual Charge Conference is scheduled for November 16 at 3:30pm in the sanctuary. All are invited to attend. Members of the church have voting rights for the official business that occurs at the meeting.
