Adult Mission Trip - Copper Canyon, Mexico
April 8-13, 2008
This mission trip offers an adventure travel experience. Copper Canyon is a cluster of canyons that are narrower, deeper, and covered with more plant life than the Grand Canyon. Rivers born in the high pine forests have carved a 10,000 mile maze of spectacular steep-walled gorges into the volcanic rock of the Sierra Madre Mountain Range.
The region is the homeland of the Tarahumara indians. Many of them live in caves and other primitive dwellings, much as their ancestors have for the last 400 years. We will visit several small villages and take food and blankets to those in need.
During our last trip to Copper Canyon, we hiked down to a waterfall (and some of us swam in the freezing cold water), visited a Methodist camp and chapel, visited Lake Arereko where we rented canoe-like boats and had a devotional and bonfire in the evening.
If you would like to participate, e-mail: adultmissiontrip@suncreekumc.org. Cost estimates for the trip are about $320 per person. This includes airfare (approx. $220), transportation, and lodging. Scholarships are available.

Disaster Relief Trips
If you have every watched the news about a major disaster in the Southwest U.S. and thought, "I would really like to go and lend those persons a hand," you can! Join us for a disaster relief mission trip. Some of these trips are planned well in advance. Some disasters are of such a magnitude that trips are taken years after the event. Others are planned quickly. Some of our trips have occurred 3 to 5 weeks after a disaster.
