April Fool's Fest

April Fool's Fest is an annual church-wide talent, er, Variety Show!  The ninth annual show will be in April 2008.   The event is coordinated by members that are active in the church's music ministries.  Tickets are sold in advance and proceeds are used to buy items that enhance our music ministries, like instruments, risers, and sound equipment.  The event usually sells out in advance.  Start planning your act and buy your tickets early!   Get ready to laugh and to enjoy an evening of fellowship.  For more information, send an e-mail message to AprilFoolsFest@suncreekumc.org.

Chili Cookoff

In recent years, we have sponsored an All-church Chili Cookoff in the Fall.

Concerts

On several occasions, Suncreek UMC has hosted concerts by Christian artists. In April 2007, the church helped sponsor a concert to celebrate Rev. Kathleen Baskin-Ball during her fight with cancer. It was entitled The Power of a Song: An Evening with Nashville Songwriters.

Glory Bees

The Glory Bees is a new group of "older" adults at Suncreek that gathers regularly for Fun and Fellowship.    In March, they are planning to visit the Kimbell Art Museum in Ft. Worth to the exhibit Picturing the Bible: The Earliest Christian Art.   For more information contact Angel Ball.

Trunk or Treat

We have an annual tradition of offering an event know as Trunk or Treat.  Decorated cars and trucks are parked in a designated area and children visit the vehicles for treats.

All-Church Picnic

We gather at least once a year to enjoy an all church picnic. These are typically held under the Pecan trees at the church. However, we have also gone off-site to some more rural settings.

Charity Golf Tournament

The Suncreek United Methodist Men are sponsoring this year's church-wide Golf Tournament.  The Sixth Annual Golf Classic is September 28, 2008.  The tournament course is Twin Creeks Golf Club in Allen.   Proceeds from the 2007 Children’s Medical Center and Noah's Place, a ministry for children with special needs. The 2008 beneficiary will be announced soon. Click here for more information.

Dinner, Pie Auction, & Sunday Sing

For this annual Fall event, we gather in Palmer Hall for pot luck dinner and pie auction.  Auction proceeds benefit the church's growing music ministries.  The evening concludes with a sing along for the whole family.

Frisco RoughRiders Baseball Game

From time to time,  we invite all church members to join us for a fun event away from church.  Pictured above is Suncreek UMC Day at the Frisco RoughRiders Baseball game.  Our Chancel Choir sang the National Anthem. (The Frisco RoughRiders are the new Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. )

Games Nights

From time to time, we gather for a games night at the church.   Watch the announcements in the Sunday bulletin and the newsletter for information about these fellowship events.

Ongoing Activities

Third Saturday Dinner Groups

Third Saturday Dinner Groups is a festive monthly gathering of small groups of Suncreek members to share a meal and cheerful companionship.  This is a great way to meet new and “old” members of SUMC.  Dinners are held the 3rd Saturday of the month at members’ homes.   For more information or to attend, e-mail ThirdSaturday@suncreekumc.org.

Church League Sports Teams

A great way to build friendships with other church members and have some great active fun is to join one of our sports teams.  Allen Parks and Recreation Department offers sports leagues in softball, volleyball and basketball.  The minimum age required to participate in the leagues is fifteen.  Suncreek UMC has a long history of fielding softball teams in this league.  We have the opportunity to have basketball and volleyball teams if there is significant interest.  If you want to join one of our teams or are seeking more information, contact Phil Taylor at sports@suncreekumc.org.
