This is the a view of our next building from McDermott Dr.
Our existing sanctuary building is pictured on the left of this drawing.
Our next building is
Our new building will be permit us to serve the growing needs of our church. It will especially benefit the children’s ministry of Suncreek, including the weekday Suncreek Children’s Development Center. The new building will have a large circular room that will be utilized as a large meeting space, choir rehearsal room, and children's play area. Two classrooms will be utilized by adult classes on Sunday mornings. There is a children's ministries office area that includes offices for our Minister with Children & Their Families and Preschool Director. The building will also include a choir dressing area, kitchenette, offices, and restrooms. It will contain approximately 15,000 square feet, and will have an indoor connection to our current sanctuary building.
Moving most of our children’s classrooms into the new building, will open up some space in our existing buildings. One area where more space is needed is in our sanctuary. In 2004, when we first opened our current sanctuary, Easter was one of the few Sundays when we reached capacity. Recently, at the 9:30am service our ushers often have to help families find the last available seats or add chairs. An average of 250 more persons a week attended worship in January 2007 than January 2006. The time has come to find a way to increase the capacity of our sanctuary. Our current sanctuary was designed to be expanded by removing the two classrooms in the back (rooms B107 & B108). Our Growing Together in Faith capital campaign will fund this work and add seating for about 100 more persons in our sanctuary. We are committed to making space for all who enter our doors to experience the power of worship at Suncreek. We also have a great need for more office space for staff. We will convert three classrooms into offices for staff like our Minister with Youth & their Families, Minister of Music, Director of Community Ministries, Children's Music Coordinator, and Communications Administrative Assistant.
The cost of the new building and renovations to existing buildings will be about 3
million dollars. Construction will begin in early 2008 and be completed by early 2009.
Frequently Asked Questions Click here to send us your questions. We willl post many of the questions and answers we receive on this page.
How many of the classrooms in the new building will be used by the Suncreek Children’s Development Center (SCDC)? SCDC currently uses 8 classrooms. They also use another classroom and Palmer Hall for educational activities. They anticipate expanding when the new building opens, yet precise expansion plans have not been determined. Expansion could include both more classrooms and more school days. Any expansion of the SCDC program would not occur until the 2008-2009 school year.
Are we moving the playground? Our master plan has playground areas on the south side of Building C. The playgrounds will not be placed there until we build part of building C in about 4 years. When building B opens, we will have a play area located between buildings A and B that will serve our toddlers, 2s and 3s. We will continue to use the current playgound near the old home on the west side of our property for our older children until building C is completed.
