What
We’re About
The Suncreek Children’s
Development Center (SCDC) is a ministry of Suncreek United Methodist Church.
The Suncreek CDC seeks to provide learning opportunities for children in a
safe and loving environment that are developmentally appropriate,
intellectually stimulating, and spiritually nurturing.
Our
Director
Lisa Newman is the Director of
Suncreek Children’s Development Center. Lisa began serving in this position in March 2008. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She served as a second grade teacher after completing her education. Lisa brings over 12 years of experience teaching preschool aged children. This includes previously serving as the Preschool Director at Our Savior Lutheran Church in McKinney. You may e-mail her at Lisa.Newman@SuncreekUMC.org.

Our
Teachers
Activities are planned and directed by
caring adults who are chosen for their skills with children and commitment
to Christian education. Suncreek Children’s Development Center currently employs 24 staff members.
Our Playground
We recently expanded our existing
playground. We have added new equipment and created a separate play
area for our younger students.
In late 2008, we are planning to move the playground for our younger children to an enclosed area between the sanctuary and our next building. In about 2012, the church
plans to construct a new playground for older children that is closer to the new children's
classrooms.
Our Future
Our 3 year old and Pre K classes meet
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Classes for 18 months through 35 months
meet Monday and Wednesday.
Expanding the Suncreek
CDC to include more children or more days each week would require constructing
additional classrooms. Suncreek United Methodist Church recently approved a new
master plan and began finalizing plans for the next building.
Construction on the new buiding will begin in the early in 2008 and
conclude by early 2009. Most of the classrooms in the new building will be for children. The building will also include new office space for Suncreek CDC.
During the middle of the 2008 -2009 school year, all of our SCDC classrooms will move to the new building. For 2009-2010, it is likely that we will be able to expand our program to serve more children for more days each week.
Suncreek Children's Development Center is licensed as
a Child-care Facility by the State of Texas. |
