Each month, we take a bible story/scripture and explore it is different ways in each of the rotation classrooms. Kindergarten and First Grade classes meet in the same classrooms each week, yet they move through the same rotation curriculum with their teachers. The Second through Fifth grade classes rotate during the month to four different stations.
This room features activities with science and geography themes. There are cool projects that reflect the time period, modern science, maps, and journeys. We sometimes view videos that focus on the historical context of the story/scripture.
Creation Station (Room A102) Creation Station is the arts, crafts, and cooking section of our Sunday School rotation. For example, a recent monthly theme was “Lord Teach Us to Pray”. The children made “prayer reminders” which resembled a stained glass window with a prayer on it. The children also enjoy cooking in Creation Station and have made trail mix with the different food items representing Bible themes or objects. We celebrate the stories/scriptures through movement, music, drums, hymns and games. We are very physical in this class and if it is quiet we are not doing the lesson right!
On Stage! (Room M1) We engage the stories/scriptures through drama, storytelling, and puppetry in the On Stage room. Sometimes, our children dress up in costumes as they act out stories.
Computer Corral (Room M3) Children who are in the On Stage! room spend part of their time that Sunday in the Computer Coral room. Our software library includes bible games and challenges.
Missions Projects (Various Rooms) On the fifth Sunday of the month (for months when there are 5 Sundays), children will go to the location of their week 1 rooms and work on a Missions Project. For example, making cards to send to persons that are on the church's prayer list.
