The Walk to Emmaus experience begins with a 72-hour retreat that is centered around a short course in Christianity: fifteen talks by lay and clergy on the themes of God's grace, disciplines of Christian discipleship, and what it means to be the church. The course is wrapped in prayer and meditation, special times of worship and daily celebration of Holy Communion. The Emmaus Walk typically begins Thursday evening and concludes Sunday evening. Upcoming event dates are listed on the Dallas Emmaus Community Website. Men and women attend separate weekends. Participants are invited to meet together after the retreat to support each other in being a disciple of Christ. To attend Emmaus you need to have a sponsor. Our church staff will gladly assist you in finding a sponsor and in registering for a Walk to Emmaus Retreat. Retreats often fill up well in advance of an event, so register early. For additional information or to take the first step in registering for the event, contact Rev. Holly Gotelli. |
